Your Business Should Keep Going Without You
When you create a business, whether a physical business or an online business, it becomes “your baby”. You put your blood, sweat, and tears into making sure it grows up to be a healthy business. Because we are often so invested in the business, we end up working in the business instead of on the business.
We spend long hours making sure everything is in order and working to make our business the way we envision it. We take pride in our business and love the fact that we can say we own a business.
Do you have business cards? I think that’s normally the first thing entrepreneurs buy once they decide to create a business. Do you remember the first time you handed someone your business card? How did you feel?
I thought it felt awesome. Also, the first time I used my business checking card. Both are awesome feelings and we should appreciate the small victories…and be proud of our businesses.
But we need to let go of our businesses sometimes. If you want your business to really grow, you have to trust in the people you’ve trained and let them deal with day to day operations so you can focus on improving and building your business even more.
I know it’s difficult to let go. You’re heavily invested. But your business should keep going without you. That’s how you know you’ve created a great business.
So, how do you create a business that continues without you?
You create a business system and use automation.
You have to look at the processes that are in place and then determine if they can be automated with software or through outsourcing. If you can find a great software that can automate the process, that’s great. An example of automated software is Aweber. It can automate the process of email marketing by letting you schedule your emails and newsletters to go out at specific intervals in advance.
Another example of automated software is Hootsuite. It allows you to create automated social media campaigns. You can use it to control multiple social media accounts at once. Hootsuite works with Twitter, Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, and others. To truly understand the power of Hootsuite, imagine creating a blog post or article. Now, imagine logging into every social media account to let people know you created the post or article. With Hootsuite, it can be as simple as just creating the post or article. Then Hootsuite handles the rest. How does that sound?
If you cannot find software or a program to automate the process, you can always turn to outsourcing. By hiring an online professional, you can leverage their time so you can accomplish more at once. Even when you’re not working, your freelancer can continue working on your business. This is also helpful when you need something done quickly. You can spend the time learning how to do something or you can quickly hire someone to complete it while you focus on your business.
A great place to hire freelancers in Elance. Browse through their website and you will see their is a freelancer for almost any job.
Some people may not like the idea of spending money, but time is more valuable than money. There is a lot of money in the world but time is limited. All tasks are not created equal. Rather than focusing on smaller tasks, you can focus on the larger tasks that will help grow your business.
By automating your business through software or outsourcing, you free up your time and your business continues to operate without you.
