My Trip to Alaska
So…I just flew in from Alaska…and boy, are my arms tired!
Okay, I just wanted to say that, but I did just get back to Hawaii from a trip to Alaska. Most people don’t like to take late night flights. My flight left at 1 a.m. I wasn’t too excited about leaving at that time but I liked that it would get me back to Hawaii before noon.
This is also one of the perks of taking the early morning flight…
That’s right! I had the row all to myself. That’s pretty rare when flying. Even the seats on the other side of my row were empty until the very last minute. Normally, you have to choose what seat you want.
Do you choose the window seat so you can look at the city when you take off and land? But then everyone has to get up anytime you want to go to the restroom.
Do you choose the aisle seat so you can easily go to the bathroom whenever you want? But then you get bumped by people walking through the aisles.
I don’t think anyone really chooses the middle seat on purpose. You have to fight for control of the armrests or you are sitting uncomfortable your whole flight. You can’t see the city views that well when taking off and landing. And you have to ask someone to move so you can go to the restroom.
With the rare row to yourself, you get the benefits of the window and aisle seats without the negatives.
Also, as you may see in that picture, it still was not completely dark in Alaska at 1 a.m.
I had never been to Alaska so I did not know what to expect. I thought I would see more wildlife but really did not see that much. Below is a picture of a bear and her cubs. I wasn’t expecting to see them and I didn’t want to get too close so this is the best picture I could get. It was actually taken by a friend that was with me and I asked for a copy.
Bears in real life give you mixed emotions…at least for me anyways. I know I should keep a safe distance, but I wanted to go closer. I know they are strong but part of me is curious like how strong are they.
Don’t worry! Since I am writing this now, that means I resisted those insane thoughts.
The only other animals I saw in Alaska were the ones on the hotel walls or displayed in the hotel…
I really enjoyed the city life during my trip to Alaska. There were really nice restaurants with great seafood. Also, I found a restaurant that made really good Calzones. Plus, if you are ever in Anchorage, make sure you stop by the Moose’s Tooth for good pizza and beer. We did not have reservations and we were seated within an hour. While you’re waiting, you can order a beer from the bar.
Anyway, I cannot say exactly what it is about the city, but it just has a charm about it.
Based on my experience, I do like Alaska in the summer. I have not experienced Alaska in the winter and have no plans to do so.
Now that I have told you a little about my experience, let’s look at this from an online business standpoint. Since I am a blogger, I can write anywhere there is an Internet connection. You can connect to the Internet in many places (hotels, coffee shops, restaurants, etc.) so you can always work.
I like to mix up my blog and provide pictures so you can see things that my words may not be able to capture. When you travel somewhere new, it’s normal to take pictures. So, am I working when I take pictures or just being a typical tourist?
