Always Learning to Continue Earning
If you read my previous post, you already know I really like continuing education. This is not necessarily attending college classes. I’m sure some classes could be beneficial but there are other options.
If you just relate to the college learning environment, you can always try iTunes U where you can learn from college professors on your own time. I own an Apple TV and you can watch the training from iTunes U on your television. Plus, the Apple TV is inexpensive…under $100. You can also use it to watch podcasts.
I like to read. Okay, I don’t like to read but I enjoy reading about business and making money. You can take a look at all the books I have read under the Recommended Reading section. They should help you along your journey. If you don’t think you like to read…maybe you’re just not interested in the subject.
I thought I hated reading but it was just the subjects. Once I began reading about business, websites, SEO, and more, I was highly interested and I enjoyed reading. I would devour books.
Last year, I spent a lot of time reading books to learn. This year, I have that information so now I’m working to build connections and exchange information.
Last year, I was so involved in my business that I was avoiding networking. I thought I could do everything alone. I no longer believe that. You will end up wasting a lot of time with that mentality.
It’s good to network. You just have to make sure you look for win-win situations. Try to give value as well…don’t just seek something for free. If people think you are just trying to use them, that’s the easiest way to kill relationships…and opportunities.
Tomorrow will be a longer day but it will be worth it. I had to rearrange a few things in my schedule to make it work…and I’m still hoping everything works out.
A webinar came up at a moment’s notice and I would really like to tune in so I’m going to make it work. I already had an SEO training class scheduled for tomorrow. I’m excited about that!
It gives me an opportunity to learn more about SEO and improve my knowledge. It also gives me an opportunity to network and meet new people.
SEO is always a beast because it’s something that most people never even think about. It involves becoming familiar with the algorithms search engines use and tuning your website to be in the search engines favor.
It can be difficult enough just trying to learn the metrics the algorithm looks at…and you probably still won’t know them all. Then, you have to deal with updates when search engines decide some metrics no longer matter or new metrics need to be added.
You have to really be interested in SEO to devote your time to learning it. I learn it because I think it is helpful for my business and if I can master it, it will make me more valuable online.
Attending the webinar and SEO training session are examples of ways that I continue to learn.
